Stuff – Ingenuity and Critique

black; craft; publication;
Graphic design and concept for the Danish Crafts exhibition "Stuff".

Danish Crafts exhibited at the Harbourfront Centre, Toronto, Canada, as a part of the large Danish cultural festival “SUPER DANISH: Newfangled Danish Culture”. The exhibition presented 31 of Denmark's most innovative craft artists selected by curators Louise Campbell (DC) and Melanie Egan (HFC).

Rasmus Koch Studio was responsible for the overall visual concept for the Danish Crafts exhibition. Danish Crafts was responsible for the concept development, planning and execution. The overall visual identity for the festival was supervised by Bruce Mau.

In an exhibition focusing on cultural export, one of the smallest countries had invaded one of the largest. The Craft presented was furthermore only a small part of the overall Danish cultural presentation at SUPER DANISH. The Danish Crafts exhibition was also housed in one of the smallest available galleries.

In order to mimic the mis-proportioned scaling we created a super-enlarged publication. As well as giving a tactile understanding of craft the publication also poked a critical commentary at Bruce Mau's overall title: SUPER DANISH.

Format: 500 x 690 mm, saddle-stitched, soft cover, 16 pages, 32 b/w and 31 colour ill., offset.
